Lets shape a Safe Nation for Women

“Progress” in English dictionary refers to “forward movement”. After almost 70years of Independence, we say that we have made a progress in each field (like medical, engineering, aeronautics etc) as compared to the conditions prevalent 70years ago. But have we really made a change? Are we really ahead? Can we call our self a developed nation now (after 70years of Independence). On this International Women’s day, let’s talk about how much progress we have made so far.

I agree that conditions are far better than what it was earlier but is it ok to have such conditions where woman is not at all safe to go outside alone. Where she is always worried if clock exceeds 10pm. Is it the case before? The answer is No. Woman were treated as Goddess earlier.  Cases of Eve teasing, rape, sexual harassment were not there. Today, people are living a luxurious life where they can get food, water, clothing etc at the comfort of their home. All these things are just a click away from them. They are getting better education, better lifestyle but this is being misused in one or the other way. Education acts as a pillar to the woman to prove herself. Now-a-days woman gets equal education, works along with man in each and every field. Woman like Kalpana Chawla, Kiran Bedi, Sushmita Sen, Sania Mirza have made India withstand among other developed nations of World. On the other hand, if we compare the statistics of crime , graph for it has reached at  peaks which is again shameful for us. Cases like sexual harassment, eve teasing, acid attack etc have covered the major portion of news headlines every day. Such cases become blocker for them to progress. We all are aware of the famous quote – If we educate a man, we educate a person but if we educate a woman, you educate a family. In order to contribute in progress of our country, we need to educate our youth about the moral values, respect for woman and value of human life. Now-a-days our Youth is missing these basic etiquettes. That is why, they commit anything without giving a single thought about its consequences. Due to lack of all such moral values, a young girl named Nirbhaya lost her life. This is just one case but looking at the daily statistics, I am sure that there are multiple cases happening all across India which are either unnoticed or are not filed anywhere because of social status being hampered. Because of social status , woman never describes her sorrows to anyone .That sorrow can be in form of domestic violence, sexual harassment or mental harassment. On this Woman’s day, I want that we all women should take  a pledge to raise our voice against any injustice done to us or our daughter. Let this world know the power of Woman!!

Happy Woman’s Day !!
